GPS units and handheld data recorders are used to collect data on trees assessed. UFST crews have been trained on and use a variety of  equipment. In this photo Eric Muecke (NC) uses a Garmin GPS unit (backpack) and Recon data recorder running SOLOfield software provided by Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry.
